Sculptor Oskar Stonorov was born in Frankfort, Germany in 1905. Stonorov was asked by Walter Reuther's wife, May, to design a sculpture that would relfect her strong interest in the arts and dance. His product—a sculpture of joyous young women dancing. This was installed along a stream at the Reuther estate. Upon the death of the Reuthers', at their request, the sculpture was donated to Wayne State University.
